Participatory Budgeting Exchange 2018

In November 2018, 40 government and civil society practitioners, funders, and allies from 21 countries convened to co-design a new global initiative to support and coordinate PB knowledge and peer exchange.


About the

We are now building on the existing momentum of the Participatory Budgeting Exchange to move forward with the launch of a new global PB initiative. The Hewlett Foundation has allocated seed funding to support this idea.

The Participatory Budgeting Exchange, held in Barcelona, Spain in November 2018, brought together international experts and participatory budgeting implementers to identify and co-design opportunities across two thematic tracks:

Track 1: Participatory Budgeting Peer Exchange

This track focused on generating and sharing ideas and tools to problem-solve common challenges experienced by PB implementers around the world..

Track 2:
Global Design

This track explored new frameworks and mechanisms to strengthen and coordinate global PB design, adoption, and advocacy
